During the Great Depression of the 1930s the only income many people in the Fingal Valley had was hunting ringtail, possum,rabbits and wallaby for their skins.
In the above photo we can see the Barnes Family of Beauty Flats, near Mathinna, returning home with their catch of ringtail.
