book "Convicts
of the Fingal Valley" was launched by Society
President, Barry Aulich and Break O' Day Council Mayor, Robert Legge,
at a The book gives a comprehensive account of the impact convicts had on the development of the Fingal Valley. In particular, it looks at the Probation System, which saw over 1,000 convicts allocated to work projects in the Valley. One of which was the famous St Marys Pass, where over 500 were employed during the period of construction from 1842 to 1846 If you have convict ancestry, perhaps, they are among the 1,000 or so named in the book The book can be

The Society would like to acknowledge the Break O' Day Council who, through their Community Fund, have given us a grant of $3,000 to upgrade IT equipment. This equipment will help us to continue researching and preserving valuable history and assist us in keeping our website full of information for the general public
Members of the Society are
available by appointment to conduct tours and do talks on the rich history
of the Fingal Valley.
